Will Muscle Cars Actually Make A Reappearance?

If you're in your forties or fifties, it's likely your original car was a real American muscle car. All these vehicles have lead to people searching all over the United States for old muscle cars that need renovation. The real explanation is that not one of the Big Three are making these awesome machines anymore. The primary question is who'll start making them again?

Chevy and Ford are already releasing new models of Camaro's and Mustangs ever since the 60's. The problem is that every year these auto producers get away from what a genuine muscle car is and they keep filling them with more and more computer equipment. When is someone going to manufacture a muscle car with a 327 and a 4 barrel carburetor ever again. The depressing truth is we probably won't have one ever again.

The real concern is that people want to perpetually improve things just for the sake of it. A good example is the timeless 1967 Camaro, which is recognized as the all time great muscle car. Even with its level of popularity, Chevy chose to stop making this particular version. The same goes for the 1966 Mustang, which is another classic that Ford just decided was not worth making.

Here's the odd thing. The VW Bug was Volkswagen's most well-liked model back in the day, so they re-introduced it many years after the first version was no longer in production. While the new Beetle sold fairly well, it was nowhere near as profitable as the original VW Beetle. It cannot be helped that these people think that new is invariably better.

Let me suggest one thing take into consideration. If Chevy made a decision to go classic and build a Camaro with a 327 engine and 4 barrel carburetor and left out all the fancy technology, wouldn't you want one? I asked this question to virtually countless people throughout the years and they all said they would immediately get one. Therefore what could be the problem? If there is a request for a thing that is back-to-basics, can't the car companies listen?

When will Ford or GM decide that it is a good chance to build cars like the good old days? I believe that they will become hot sellers. But till the big firms realize that there is a demand for these kinds of vehicles we are going to have to keep looking through the junk yards and rebuilding the classic American muscle cars.

We might get lucky and some day these companies will plan to start making them. At the moment, these CEO's think technological innovation makes better cars. I believe we ought to just go back to the way that things were.
